Project idea:

You are an athlete from the country of Ireland. It has been your dream to participate in the Olympic games. Your dream is about to come true. You have earned a spot on the 2012 Olympic team and will represent Ireland at the Olympic games in London. What will you learn while you are at the Olympics? It is going to be your job to create an informational page showing one thing that you learned while you were at the Olympics. Your page will be combined with the other pages your teammates have created to make a big book for the schools Media Center.

How could we teach others about the Olympics?

Social Studies:
K G 1.2, 1.3- Use globes and maps to locate land and water features
Identify physical features (mountains, hills, rivers, lakes,etc)

Science:
K E 1.1-3- Infer that change is something that happens in many things in the environment based on observations made using one or more of their senses. Summarize daily weather conditions noting changes that occur from day to day and throughout the year. Compare weather patterns that occur from season to season.

  • Create an informational page about the summer Olympics. Page will be placed in a classroom big book

  • Graph weather in London
  • Graph medals country wins
